Welcome to OurWrites!

OurWrites is a collection of writing, lovingly cared for by writer, Stuart Mark. Here you will find my body of work, such as it is, laid out for all the rabid criticism and gushing praise (which is preferred) that the web can throw at it.

I started writing in the days when publishers still had slush piles and were willing to allow people like me to add to them. One day, when it was particularly quiet at work, I decided to write a novel, just to see if I could. Ninety thousand words and almost as many lookups in Roget's Thesaurus later, I finished and proudly sent my manuscript to as many publishers as I could. The novel was called "The Parrot Buyer' and, of course, it was awful and comprehensively rejected. Since then, I have continued to write, short stories, articles and 'Paying for It', my first decent novel. I have been published in IT Week magazine and my fiction has been featured in Allan Guthrie's Noir Originals website and Glasgow University's The Seeker site.

Paying for It is available for purchase because I want people to read and comment on it, rather than have it lying in my computer for evermore. In fact, that goes for all my work on this site. Read and rant, Baby.
